These little kits are my favorite for people just getting started with band lighting - they're easy to set up, inexpensive, and perform well.

The Startec by ADJ Starbar Wash is a complete wash lighting system that comes with a powered light bar with four LED Pars, lighting tripod stand, foot switch controller and padded carrying bag. Each LED Par may be controlled individually via DMX or change light shows from the foot controller, wireless remote, show mode or by sound activation.

These kits are awesome - what you get is great for the beginning band, and it can grow with you too.
Instead of having to clamp (4) par lights on a stand and hook up power and DMX to (4) fixtures, you just wire in (1) power, (1) DMX and you're good to go. And did we mention that you pulled it out of the included storage bag, and put it on the included stand? Yep!
In terms of quality, as long as you don't beat them around they should last you a long time, they're a well-build unit for the cost. For future growth, you can clamp (2) more lights onto the top (outlets included in the "bar"), or if you outgrow it completely for your frontlight, you can move it to the side or backlight position and keep using it as you grow. These little systems are great, and my #1 recommendation for when you first get started with band lighting!
